Fernrock Personal Care: Safety & Compliance Standards

Fernrock Personal Care ensures that its Veteran Living Facilities (PCHs) remain in full compliance with Pennsylvania’s 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2600. These regulations, overseen by the Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL)–Bureau of Human Services Licensing (BHSL) within the Department of Human Services (DHS), establish comprehensive standards for fire safety, staff training, resident care, and the management of the physical site to avoid potential hazards. Compliance is maintained through rigorous annual inspections, ensuring safe, secure, and high-quality living environments for all residents.

Key Safety Guidelines & Requirements

Fire Safety & Emergencies

PCHs must have emergency evacuation plans, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and clear, unobstructed passageways. Evacuation plans must be submitted annually to local emergency management agencies.

Physical Environment

Homes must be designed for safety, including the elimination of hazards like loose rugs. During excessive heat warnings, facilities must maintain safe temperatures (81°F or lower).

Staff Training

Administrators and staff are trained in fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and resident care to ensure a safe environment.

Resident Safety

Regulations include ensuring proper medication management, nutrition, and personal care services, with annual inspections to ensure compliance
